Future of Work
Leveraging analogue inputs in an increasingly digitalized workspace, our project imagines new ways of working in distraction-less environments.

Keeping the learning and reflection needs of 21st century information workers in mind, the project proposes a transition for the company from being a ‘better thinking product’ to a ‘better thinking ecosystem’.

The task we were given was to research, define and design a modern, cross-platform digital way of working that help people work better.
Design process:
1/ Work and workflows
2/ Prototype &testing
3/ Product to ecosystem
4/ Future scenarios

What is the focused way of working?
We did a quick mapping to understand all aspects of workflow, starting from reMarkable’s vision, mental models associated with user behaviours, and target group’s future of work.
One day intensive sprint workshop, 8 ideas,
1 affinity mapping, 2 round voting.

We had 1 prototype for implementing audio transcript into reMarkable and then conducted 2 user testing. We learnt that how the task was carried out was heavily depend on workflow because everyone works differently.
1/Work and workflows:
We have learnt that most people don’t consider reMarkable as the centre of the workflow, and they struggled to find their workflow with the tablet.

Testing prototypes at reMarkable head office in Oslo(Above).
2/ Prototype &testing
We use notetaking which everyone uses with remarkable as probes, to help us identify the scope and opportunity area.
We prototyped 5 concepts, from micro interactions to some new ways of working using reMarkable.

File format conversion for the next cross-platform operations

Handwriting conversion and ai empowered content edit and curation

3/ Product to ecosystem
Scenarios conceptualised at three levels of this ecosystem:
reM Device, reM cloud and internet.

4/ Future scenarios
We explored three features combining with scenario ranging from practical to speculative.
We use reMarkable’s analogue writing feature, and introduce new voice and AI integrations to explore new cloud based services.
01 Analogue input
The first scenario was implementing analogue input (voice)
to support the existing workflow.
